Democratic candidates continue to lead by double digits.
At the halfway pole in the 2022 general election race, it appears that the horses wearing the Democratic blue silks are extending their leads.
In a poll commissioned by Pittsburgh Works Together and conducted by Public Opinion Strategies, John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro held commanding 18 and 15 point advantages, respectively, over their GOP opponents in the chase for the U.S. Senate and Pennsylvania governor’s mansion.
Fetterman received 51 percent to just 33 percent for Mehmet Oz in the poll of 600 registered voters. The lieutenant governor of the Keystone State led 46-29 when respondents were asked if they would definitely vote for the candidate. Ten percent of those polled were undecided or unsure.
Shapiro hit the 50 percent mark on the nose in the gubernatorial poll, while Republican opponent Doug Mastriano received 35 percent. The current Pennsylvania Attorney General retained that 15-point advantage (45-30) when respondents were asked if they “definitely” support the candidate. Eleven percent of those polled were undecided or unsure.
POS has received a pollster rating of A- from FiveThirtyEight.com with a historical average statistical bias of +1.5 percent for Republicans.
