Democratic candidate for Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro holds a nearly four-point lead over Republican opponent Doug Mastriano in the latest poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group.
In a poll of nearly 1,100 likely general election voters, Shapiro, the Commonwealth’s Attorney General, received 48.6 percent of the responses to the question, “If the election for Governor were held today, for whom would you vote?” Mastriano, the state senator from Franklin County, garnered 44.7 percent, while libertarian candidate Matt Hackenburg pulled in 1.1 percent. Just under five percent of the respondents (4.8%) were unsure or undecided.
This is the closest margin (3.9%) between the two candidates since mid-June when Shapiro led Mastriano by 2.9 percentage points (48.2-45.3).
The poll was conducted between August 15-18 and has a margin of error of +/- 2.9 percent.
