Teacher Enters Race to Challenge Rothfus

Aaron AnthonyDemocrat Aaron Anthony announced he is running to challenge Congressman Keith Rothfus (R-Allegheny) next year.

“I think there is a real opportunity that comes along from a real crisis,” Anthony said in a phone interview with PoliticsPA.

Anthony is a former Shaler area English teacher, who also taught English in Latvia and traveled to over 45 countries.  He says that traveling the world has given him a unique perspective.

“You have a different persepctive on your country when you go abroad for a couple of years.  You learn about what other people think of America and what it means to be American,” Anthony said.

Anthony says his goal isn’t just to win, but to help create a movement in Congressional districts that are considered to be safely Republican.

“Our goal is to show that no Congressional district is safe Republican.  We want to show there is something real and exciting in the Progressive movement,” Anthony said.

Anthony joins Tom Prigg, a Carnegie Mellon University research assistant in the Democratic field.

  1. Keith Rothfus only cares about the wealthy and southern states, his leadership tells him to vote for bills that give boatloads of federal money to southern states while his own state and district gets screwed. It’s time to vote Keith out.

    1. I’ll go along with that Rothfus seemed to ignore his people in his district it was good to see at the Town Hall Meeting yesterday.

  2. Glad to see some folks throw their hats in the ring. There are few things more depressing than a race with only one name on the ballot.

  3. with a name like ha ha ha- I’m sure you are an expert on waste—every time you look in a mirror

    1. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to offend you to the point of insulting an anonymous writer!

  4. You must have forgotten or chose to ignore that Keith Rothfus did not live in the 12th district when he ran in 2012

  5. Good luck Mr. Anthony! May you waste two years of your life, running for something you stand zero chance at getting, with great happiness and joy!

    1. Well you must have forgotten that Keith Rothfus did not live in the 12th district when he ran in 2012

    2. The article doesn’t state he doesn’t live in the 12th. Care to share where you found that information?
