It isn’t 2016 anymore.
Just a few hours before President Donald Trump’s town hall hosted by Fox News in Scranton is set to kick off, Sen. Pat Toomey (R) issued a statement announcing that he’ll be in attendance for the event and welcomed the president to Pennsylvania.
“President Trump has a great story to tell tonight,” Toomey said in a release. “His policies and priorities have given Pennsylvanians the strongest economy in decades, almost 200 new federal judges that respect the rule of law, and a foreign policy that is based on keeping our country safe and holding hostile governments, like Iran, accountable for their actions.”
“I am looking forward to joining President Trump on Air Force One this afternoon and being in the audience at tonight’s town hall,” Toomey said at the conclusion of the press release.
The press release from the GOP Senator is seemingly a significant development in his relationship with Trump.
Although Toomey and Trump both hail from the same party and share many of the same policy positions, they haven’t been aligned on every single issue and have even publicly addressed their differences in the past over trade policies. In 2016, when both Toomey and Trump ran successful campaigns in Pennsylvania, Toomey didn’t announce his support for Trump until Election Day.
The town hall will be Trump’s first appearance in the keystone state in 2020.

Toomey is going to have a tough re-election in two years with how much brownnosing he has done with Trump.
