About 12 student protesters gathered outside Penn State’s Rec Hall to protest President Obama’s remarks on energy innovation today.
The students were representatives from the group Young Americans for Freedom. Samuel Settle, the group’s leader, said he believes Obama is forcing alternative energy sources onto citizens.
“We think that energy policy should be judged by how well it benefits the average American. Does it lower his energy rates? Does it make it easier for him to get the energy he needs to run his life? We think the Obama administration has done a really miserable job at constructing an energy policy.”
While well-spoken, these protesters were certainly in the minority today. Most students that PoliticsPA talked to described Obama’s speech as “awesome.”
