Vote Reform, Vote Medaglia

The latest installment in PoliticsPA’s new Com Director’s Corner.

By Valerie Caras, PA Republicans Communications Director

On Tuesday, March 15th voters in the 11th State Senatorial District will have the choice to vote for real reform once more by supporting Republican Larry Medaglia for State Senate.

Born in Reading and raised in Wyomissing Hills, Larry has been an advocate for residents of Berks County throughout his entire career.  He currently serves as the Berks County Register of Wills/Clerk of Orphans’ Court and previously worked for former State Representative Paul Angstadt and District Attorney Mark Baldwin. Among his key issues, Larry has pledged to fight to eliminate property taxes, strengthen the economy, create jobs and join Governor Tom Corbett as he works to reform Harrisburg.

This is an important election for both residents of the 11th State Senatorial District and around the Commonwealth because voters have a unique opportunity to decide between two candidates with drastically different visions for Pennsylvania.  In November, Berks County overwhelmingly supported the Republicans Tom Corbett (winning 59% of the Berks vote) and Pat Toomey (winning 55% of the Berks vote). Berks County residents can reinforce that message and their desire for more jobs, less taxes and real reform with Larry Medaglia.  Standing in stark contrast to Larry’s fiscally responsible agenda, Democrat candidate Judy Schwank voted to increase county spending by $97 million, levied a 52% increase on property taxes and saw thousands of jobs leave Berks County during her tenure as County Commissioner.  We cannot afford a repeat performance from her in Harrisburg.

With less than two weeks to go, we are employing a robust get-out-the-vote campaign from now until Election Day to support Larry Medaglia. Though Democrats out-register Republicans 54% to 32% in the 11th District, the fact that Republicans are within striking distance in this race is a clear signal that the tides of reform that swept through Pennsylvania last year are still flowing.  We know this won’t be an easy race, but when supporting a candidate who will fight for good government and a better Berks County, the extra effort is always worth it.

I would encourage you to check out the PA GOP web site and follow us on twitter (@PARepublicans) for upcoming videos and on-the-trail updates right from the 11th District.  Larry Medaglia’s campaign is inviting new volunteers to join dozens of their neighbors already making phone calls and going door-to-door. We are ready to send a Larry Medaglia to the State Senate to focus on fiscal responsibility and bringing limited government to Harrisburg. We hope you can join us!

  1. I was considering voting for you in the upcoming March election, however, I am very concerned and I repeat very concerned why was the media not allowed to be at your fund raiser when Gov. Corbet was giving his speech? This behavior is not very trustworthy in my opinion. Are you and Governor Corbett planning on busting unions in PA? Why is it always the middle class that suffers?
