Critz is in a very tough spot right now, with Republican polls this month showing him slightly behind Republican Keith Rothfus. This district would have given John McCain 54 percent of the vote in 2008.
If there’s one candidate in Pa. who didn’t want to see a last-minute Republican push, it’s Critz. Western Pa. “Reagan Democrats,” who Critz needs to keep in his column, are the targets of countless GOP ads.
Election handicapper Larry Sabato rates the race as “leans Democratic.”
It’s already the number one congressional district in the nation as far as outside spending.
