Cyril Wecht’s son is running for PA Supreme Court.
At least that’s one of the major messages of David Wecht’s first TV ad.
The thirty-second spot, titled “History”, opens with a voice asking citizens what they want from the State Supreme Court.
The commercial then transitions into some of the Superior Court Judge’s credentials, mentioning that he was “highly recommended” by the PA Bar Association.
“Wecht is the only candidate with a plan to restore our trust in the courts,” the narrator states. “Banning gifts to judges and restoring transparency.”
The ad finishes with an off-camera questioner asking Dr. Cyril Wecht, “So does David Wecht fit the bill?”
“I certainly think so,” the candidate’s father responds before David appears, puts his arm around him and says, “Thanks Dad.”

Everything works until Dr. Wecht comes in. You can tell he’s waiting for his cue and then Judge Wecht looks like he is going to laugh at the end. Hopefully a second ad is in the can. He’ll still win the primary though.
His buy is incredible; incredibly bad. It is almost identical to how Tom Corbett bought his media… Who is doing the buying? Someone from the Mad Men era?
