Welch Endorsed by 27 County Commissioners

Counties in red indicate the location of Welch's Commissioner and state lawmaker endorsements.

Republican US Senate candidate Steve Welch has received the endorsements of 27 county commissioners throughout the state of Pennsylvania, his campaign announced Wednesday.

“[This] endorsement of commissioners from Allegheny County to Bucks County truly demonstrates that Steve Welch has a strong network of local, grassroots supporters who know that they key to beating Sen. Bob Casey in November is selecting the right candidate who can unite and grow the party,” the release said.

Welch, an entrepreneur from Chester County, has also been endorsed by 35 state legislators.

“I am honored to receive the endorsements of these 27 county commissioners today,” Welch said. “These commissioners know their counties best and their support represents the overwhelming grassroots support I have received in this campaign. I’m grateful for their endorsements and look forward to their help and continued support.”

  1. How many people know that Welch voted for Obama in 2008 and Sestak in 2010? That’s a deal breaker right there!

  2. Well, golleee, I sure will be voting for Welch just because those county commissioners endorsed him. I think there’s no better Republican than one that supported obama and sestak.

  3. His quotes are so far out of the realm of reality it speaks volumes.

Visit his facebook page looks more like an operatives page than a candidate for us senate.

  4. Interesting that the name of lawmakers supporting Welch isn’t listed here. Since Centre County is in red, one wonders if it is a Democrat or Republican legislator supporting him, since there are no commissioners listed

  5. Hope for Welch’s sake that most of them are smarter than Allegheny County’s contribution to the list.

  6. One other thing. I guess the Chester County DA, Tom Hogan, so desperately wants to get in on the sycophant-to-the-establishment parade that we need to pretend he is a commissioner. Hopefully next Wednesday he and the rest will be a little less enthused about Mr. Welch (and the Republican voters a little less enthused about them).

  7. These lists just keep on giving. I see Wayne Woodman was able to cajole everyone but Scott Ott.
…The Welch implosion is taking everyone with him.

  8. Gosh, that is super-duper impressive. I take back all the bad things I have said about Stevie “I want to be a Congressman or Senator and have lots of money” Welch.

I guess that these Commissioners are not troubled by Stevie Welch not being able to figure out that Barack Obama was the most liberal member of the US Senate, even surpassing self-described Socialist, Bernie Sanders. Or that Stevie Welch supported far-left Joe Sestak too. All because he thought George Bush was not fiscally conservative. Makes good sense if you are a political hack like these Commissioners. Makes good sense if you don’t care about experience or fidelity to conservative values.

They just do what Governor Corbutt tells them. And why not, he is doing such a great job for Pennsylvania in getting the unsustainable State pensions under control, in making government accountable to the people, etc. Actually not.

On Tuesday, vote for someone other than the establishment tool, Stevie Welch. Vote for someone who believes in constitutional, limited government and is not just running to stroke his own ego. Send a message to the state Republican Party that the people will not blindly follow their absurd endorsement of someone who has no apparent interest in principles but is just a good dupe for them (and someone who has money as well).
