Now you can follow Governor Tom Corbett on Twitter.

Corbett’s office confirmed to the Post-Gazette that @GovernorCorbett is legit, and said that his staff will be updating the account on a daily basis.

The Governor’s first tweet was on June 16, and linked to a facebook note about the state budget.

Governor Corbett joins a group of Pennsylvania politicians to have joined Twitter in the past few months, including long-time holdout Senator Bob Casey.

But his history with the service is a bit more complicated than most – the Gov made headlines last May when, as Attorney General, he subpoenaed the personal information of @CasablancaPA and @bfbarbie from the online service.

Corbett said that the decision was based on the suspicion that the users were involved in the Bonusgate proceedings, but the subpoena was widely criticized and ultimately withdrawn.
