Governor Tom Wolf announced that current Insurance Commissioner Teresa Miller will take over the state’s Department of Human Services.
According to the Patriot News, Miller will take over the department on Monday.
Wolf had announced that Miller would take over the combined Department of Health and Human Services, but the state Senate and House have said the proposal needs to be studied more.
Miller will replace Secretary Ted Dallas, who has been on medical leave since mid-June. Dallas will continue to serve Wolf by joining his executive office staff when he returns.
Wolf also announced that Miller’s Chief of Staff Jessica Altman will take over the Insurance Commission.
Both Miller and Altman will need to be approved by the Senate to take over the positions full time, but can work in them as Wolf’s nominees.

This is a really great move. Insurance complaints are totally backlogged. Our insurance complaint resolution rate is among the slowest in the nation and Ms. Miller gets another position in the the Cabinet. Governor Wolf is a genius.
