York County Dem Chair Steps Down

KefauverYork County Democratic Party Chairman Bob Kefauver announced that he will be stepping down.

Kefauver has served in this post for the last five years and counted the election of York natives Governor Tom Wolf and Auditor General Eugene DePasquale as the proudest accomplishments of his tenure.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have chosen to step down as the chair of the Democratic Party of York County,” Kefauver told party during its Executive Committee Meeting on Tuesday. “The volunteers, contributors, candidates and elected officials of the DPOYC have made this one of the highlights of my life. This was the most difficult decision I have ever made, but a necessary decision nonetheless.”

While he is stepping down as County Chair, Kefauver will retain his other positions and voting powers in the state and local party.

As of now, there is no successor in place.

“While we do not yet know who will be a candidate for this position, I am confident a viable, strong individual will be elected,” stated Kefauver. “The DPOYC is as strong as it’s ever been in York County and continues to grow. The next chair will take over an organization of dedicated volunteers who are working hard to improve the quality of life of all York County residents through our electoral process. With the County Commissioner elections this fall and an incredibly active election cycle on the horizon for 2016, this will be an opportunity unlike any other for a new leader to take the reigns of the organization.”

  1. As a fellow member of State Committee and friend of Bob I am sad to see him leave. I am also happy that he leaves an organization that has benefited from his sincerity and dedication.
To leave it in this way and at a time that it is a fully functioning and successful organization speaks to his real leadership skills.

  2. I’ve worked with Bob on statewide campaigns and he is a dedicated and effective leader. Glad to see that he will be staying involved with the committee. I wish him and the York Dems the best.
