Zappala Touts County Commissioner Endorsements

Stephen-ZappalaThe East vs. West battle for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General is heating up with the primary a month away.

While Josh Shapiro releases his first TV ad, Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala is responding to the Montgomery County Commissioner by rolling out a big list of endorsements.

These supporters are themselves County Commissioners of 11 Southwestern PA Counties.

The fourteen Democratic county leaders endorsing Zappala are: Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Commissioners Pat Fabian (Armstrong),Tony Amado (Beaver), Kevin Boozel (Butler), Thomas Chernisky (Cambria), William “BJ” Smith (Cambria), Vincent A. Vicites (Fayette), Blair Zimmerman (Greene), Dave Coder (Greene), Serene Hess (Indiana), Steve Craig (Lawrence), Larry Maggi (Washington) and Gina Cerilli (Westmoreland) and Ted Kopas (Westmoreland).

“For nearly twenty years, Steve has managed the second largest D.A. office in the Commonwealth,” said Fitzgerald. “He’s taken thousands of illegal guns off our streets, improved community-police relations and prosecuted corrupt elected officials who have betrayed the public’s trust. Steve’s experience demonstrates he’s the most qualified to be our next Attorney General.”

“These Commissioners know too well the ills of society that challenge the health of their communities—illegal drugs, child predators, elder neglect and others,” said Zappala. “Having their trust that I’m best candidate to help protect Pennsylvanians from these harms, as our next Attorney General, is truly an honor.”

Zappala and Shapiro will also face Northampton County DA John Morganelli in the April 26th primary.

  1. and why is it that a popup ‘zappala’ audio loads on to my computer every time i log in to politicspa….?

  2. gulag – No one. The wheels have fallen off the Seth Williams Express. He wanted to be AG. He wanted to be a Senator. Now, he’ll be lucky to avoid an orange jump-suit.

If he wasn’t such a flaming ass-hole, I might feel sorry for him. Nah … who could feel sorry for a corrupt, morally bankrupt blow-hard???

  3. The common thread here is the Bazzano-Zappala-Porter mafia connections. These are all surrounding counties to Pgh.where brother Greg “Cash for Kids ” Zappala did bond issues for Morgan Stanley “the big short” until he was fired because of credit swap default lies.Wall Street is bigger than Uncle Charlie, so the blame runs down hill.At least, these politicians stayed bought, as they should, since the money is gone and all they have now are memories.Like Conahan and Chiaverella, maybe they will be happy with a Christmas card from Steve, Sr. While he relaxes in southwest FLA. The statute of limits on R.I.C.O. Cases is 20 years, just about the same amount of time buddies Conahan and Chiaverella have left to serve. Since the godfather and family never reciprocate, it might be time to reconsider this endorsement, boys. Just keep thing “Luzerne County, Luzerne County!” and you will get your own answer.

  4. Well, he does do a better job than Philly DA Seth Williams. But who is worse than Seth?

  5. It’s saying something to say that this may be the most disingenuous political ad I’ve ever seen, but this may take the cake. Anyone who knows anything about his history should be appalled by this ad.
