Michelle Obama and Mitt Romney Come To Pittsburgh Tuesday

First Lady Michelle Obama will be visiting the Pittsburgh area on Tuesday, the White House has announced.

She is expected to arrive around 3:30PM, when she will be visiting service members and their families at the 911th Airlift Wing and the 171st Air Refueling Wing.

The Air Force has scheduled the 911th and 171st to close within the next two years.  Local politicians are fighting to keep it open, and have asked Obama and his administration to step in.

After talking with military personnel and their families, Michelle Obama will speak at a Democratic National Committee event in Pittsburgh.

Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will also be in the area on Tuesday. He will be attending a roundtable event in Bethel Park around midday.

The Obama campaign is opening two more Pittsburgh-area offices this week, bringing their total to 20 offices in Pennsylvania so far.  One will open tonight in Beaver County, and the other one will open in Pittsburgh’s South Side on Tuesday evening.

  1. Point of fact, please: only the Air Force Reserve’s 911th Airlift Wing and associated Pittsburgh Int’l Airport’s Air Reserve Station is currently scheduled to close Sep 30 2012. The Pa ANG’s 171st Air Refueling Wing is scheduled for 25% cutbacks and associated Pa ANG Base (other side of Pittsburgh Int’l Airport) is scheduled to remain open. Thank you.
