12th District Democratic Candidates to Speak at Monday Forum

The Democratic candidates for the 12th congressional district in Pennsylvania – Jerry Dickinson, Summer Lee and Steve Irwin – will participate in a forum hosted by 1HoodPower tonight at 7 p.m.

An affiliate of 1HoodMedia, the 1Hood Power Hour is a virtual forum to discuss all things political in Southwestern PA and beyond. The group will host the forum on its Facebook and YouTube channels.

The 12th District candidates seek to replace outgoing Rep. Mike Doyle (D-Butler) in a newly-drawn district that contains the city of Pittsburgh, much of the southern and southeastern suburbs of Allegheny County and the western edge of Westmoreland County.

Irwin, a Pittsburgh attorney, has submitted his nomination petition for the office to the Department of State, while Lee, a state representative in the 34th District, and Dickinson, a University of Pittsburgh law professor, have yet to turn theirs in as of 3 p.m. this afternoon. The deadline for filing is 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The district leans Democratic by a 61-36 count and the party’s choice in the primary will be the heavy favorite in November.
