Philadelphia mayoral candidate Lynne Abraham is featured in the first campaign video of the race.
The YouTube video features Bill Whiting, a Philadelphia native who had his dog, Edna, stolen from him from a group of teenagers while handing out candy on Halloween in 2007. Soon after Whiting posted flyers all over town in effort to find Edna, he got a phone call from one of the teenagers in the group who informed Whiting that the kids were torturing Edna as they spoke.
One of the teenagers in the group was arrested, charged, and tried while Abraham was Philadelphia’s District Attorney.
In the video, Whiting talks about how Abraham’s sentencing of the 15-year-old showed her tough stance on animal cruelty, as well as her dedication to fairness, and upholding the law.
“Part of how a society is judged, in so far as its humanity is concerned, is how it treats its animals,” Abraham states.
The message finishes by urging viewers to register to vote and then turn out for Abraham on May 19th.
