Mike Kelly’s Rhetoric Contradicts Reality. Again.

Mike Kelly’s Rhetoric Contradicts Reality. Again.

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again – you can take Mike Kelly out of the used car dealership, but you can’t take the used car salesman out of Mike Kelly.  The Republican in northwestern Pennsylvania is again showing that just like stereotypical used car salesmen, Mike Kelly will say whatever he thinks people want to hear, regardless of what the facts are behind his claims.  The latest example? Mike Kelly is touting his opposition to the Wall Street bailouts on his website, even though he said he supported them earlier this year.

Mike Kelly first supported the Wall Street bailout…“Kelly backs ‘Wall Street Bailout’ while other candidates don’t.” [Meadville Tribune, 5/7/10]

But now, Mike Kelly’s website touts his opposition to the Wall Street bailout. “Mike Kelly will oppose the type of Wall Street bailouts that both Republican and Democratic administrations have wrongly passed in the last two years.”[Mike Kelly for Congress website, accessed 10/6/10]

“In typical used car salesman fashion, Mike Kelly is once again showing that he’ll say whatever he thinks people want to hear.  His hypocrisy on the Wall Street bailout only reinforces what we’ve been saying along: Mike Kelly can’t be trusted,” said Shripal Shah, Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  “Mike Kelly should save the double talk for the used car dealership because northwestern Pennsylvania doesn’t need someone like him who can’t be trusted in Congress.”
