Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski released the names of nearly two-dozen elected and party officials who support him in the upcoming governor’s race.

The vast majority of them come from Lehigh Valley and nearby Reading.

“As we continue to travel around the state we are thrilled with the support we are receiving. I am looking forward to building on this momentum and creating a campaign to win the Governor’s race in 2014,” Pawlowski said.

Here are the politicos from Lehigh County:

State Representatives Mike Schlossberg and Dan McNeill; Lehigh County Commissioner David Jones; Allentown City Council President Julio Guridy; Allentown City Council members Cynthia Mota, Pete Schweyer, Joe Davis and Ray O’Connell; Allentown Controller Mary Ellen Koval and Lehigh County Democratic Committee Chairman Rick Daugherty.

From neighboring Northampton County:

Easton Mayor Sal Panto and Vice Mayor Ken Brown; Bethlehem City Mayor-Elect Bob Donchez; Easton City Councilwoman Sandra Vulcano; and Whitehall Commissioner Gerry Palagonia.

From neighboring Berks County:

Reading Mayor Vaughn Spencer; Reading City Council member Strat Marmarou; Reading School Board member Isamac Torres-Figueroa and Reading Auditor David Cituk.

And here are the names not from Pawlowski’s region:

Erie City Controller Cas Kwitowski; Farrell City Councilman Gene Pacsi; Sharon City Councilman Ed Palanski; and Clarion County Democratic Committee Chairman Bill Miller.

Although these endorsements are a positive indicator for the Allentown Mayor, for the campaign to gain serious momentum he will have to continue to add names from other parts of the state.

  1. Chris-
Pawlowski is mostly wind, or rather full of hot air.

I don’t see Pawloski getting anywhere in Philly, but Schwarz can get votes outside of Philly.

Philly turnout, for a heated Gov primary, will probably be around 150,000 Dems.

All of Allentown, around 5,000. All of Lehigh county (which includes Allentown) will be around 20,000.

Montgomery county, will be around 60,000 Dems and Delco around 30,000 to 35,000.

I don’t see Schwartz being too worried about the northeast due to Pawlowski’s limited appeal. Also, I would be surprised if she didn’t have some endorsements from Scranton.

  2. I wouldn’t discount the local endorsements. It takes some of the wind out of Schwartz in the southeast, and sets up a barrier between her and the northeast.
