Democratic gubernatorial candidate and former DEP Secretary Katie McGinty brought on a new consultant Wednesday. Her campaign hired national communications and strategy firm SKDKnickerbocker.
“For more than two decades, SKDKnickerbocker has been one of the top Democratic communications and media firms in the country. Led by Bill Knapp, they are a great addition to Katie’s campaign,” said campaign chairman T.J. Rooney in a press release.
The Democratic firm has produced Pennsylvania campaign ads before.
Last year, SKD worked on behalf of the League of Conservation Voters in advertising against Congressman Tim Holden in PA-17, as well as former Congressman Patrick Murphy in his campaign for Attorney General (the firm also worked on his prior campaigns for U.S. House).
Earlier this year, the firm produced ads for NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s PAC in support of Sen. Pat Toomey’s firearms background check legislation.
Among the top tier of Democrats seeking to unseat Gov. Tom Corbett, McGinty is among the lowest when it comes to name ID. She’ll need a strong team to overcome that handicap.
