EMILYs List Endorses Innamorato, Boyd In PA Races

EMILYs List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, endorsed Sara Innamorato for election as Allegheny County executive and Heather Boyd for election to Pennsylvania’s 163rd House District on Thursday.

EMILYs List President Laphonza Butler released the following statement:

“As extremist anti-choice Republicans have attempted to roll back reproductive rights across the country in state after state, it has never been more important to elect strong and passionate Democratic pro-choice women up and down the ballot who will stand up for what’s right and keep abortion protected. Sara Innamorato and Heather Boyd will, in their respective positions, have a unique opportunity to lead on the issues that matter to Pennsylvanians and ensure that Pennsylvania remains a haven for reproductive freedom and civil rights for many years to come. EMILYs List is proud to be supporting these women in their races, and we look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish for residents of the Keystone State.”

Sara Innamorato is the current state representative for Pennsylvania’s 21st House District, where she has been serving since 2019. Innamorato grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh, after which she began work in the nonprofit sector focusing on community development, economic opportunity, and environmental stewardship. Innamorato is also a small business founder and the co-founder of “She Runs SWPA,” a program that empowers women to run for local office. She is passionate about putting people first and leveling the playing field for all Pennsylvanians.

Heather Boyd is a former high school and college teacher who has worked in state and federal government for many years, previously serving as district director and senior adviser to U.S. Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon and chief of staff for state Rep. Leanne Krueger. Boyd was an Upper Darby School Board member from 2015 to 2018, where she focused on fighting for free meals for all students. She has also served for six years as chair of the Upper Darby Democratic Committee and founded the Delaware County Chapter of NOW.
