Morganelli Joins Race for PA-15

Northampton County Democratic District Attorney John Morganelli announced he is running to replace retiring Congressman Charlie Dent.

“Over the next few months I will outline my views on the important issues facing our nation.  I have respect for all the candidates who have so far announced their intentions to seek this office,” Morganelli said in a statement according to the Morning Call.

Morganelli has served as Northampton county’s DA since 1992.  Morganelli has received criticism from Democrats for supporting Republican candidates, including appearing at an event with Senator Pat Toomey in the final weeks of his 2016 re-election campaign.

Morganelli has been considering a run for the seat since the fall following Dent’s announcement he would not be running for re-election next year.

Morganelli joins a crowded Democratic primary including Chip Collica, Allentown pastor Greg Edwards, Bill Leiner, Laura Quick, David Weidman, and former Allentown solicitor Susan Ellis Wild.

  1. He runs well in the Lehigh Valley. He is much more main stream than the normal super lefty urban bankrolled Democratic candidate. If the Democrats want to take control of the House. They need to find more candidates like Morganelli. Especially in the areas of this state outside the Philadelphia bubble.

  2. Elsewhere, Toomey endorser John Morganelli claims that “…according to the [unnamed] analysis…I start with a huge advantage…” in our Dem primary for PA-15. He has run 4 times and lost. That is a huge disadvantage over those who haven’t, like Justice Democrats endorsee Greg Edwards for Congress.

I remember when Morganelli ran last time for AG. He was a complete jerk in the debates, totally trashing his Dem opponents. It didn’t do any good, but I wouldn’t vote for him for dog catcher.

  3. I’ve been saying for a while, Morganelli is the only Democrat that has a chance in this seat in a General Election. It is going to depend A LOT on who is running his campaign. He needs to stand up and be independent as much as possible.

  4. Could this finally be the one for him? Would he be the oldest freshman if elected? Really bodes well for the future of the Lehigh Valley.

    1. We elected Dwight Evans to Congress here in the People’s Republic of Philadelphia when Fattah was under indictment. I do not think he is any younger than John Morganelli.

  5. After the fascist ad that he put out in 2008 when he ran for AG? No thanks. I’ll pass.

    1. But Rick, didn’t you already endorse the Harrisburg State Rep swamp rat Ryan MacKenzie? Ahahahahaha

      1. Get some help AnybodyButMackenzie. You need it considering your weird obsession. Maybe you have “OCD” like Simmons. LOL LOL LOL

        1. What a truly disgusting remark to post about such a serious issue. I really hope that whoever you are you aren’t running for elected office.

          1. Someone is being a bigot against, people with disabilities. It’s obvious that psych ward has issues and should have a psych evaluation, asap! Your Lol! Lol! comes across as someone with dementia.
