Obama to Headline Philly Fundraiser

president-barack-obama-2013-inauguration-537x442After speaking to the national chapter of the NAACP tomorrow, Pres. Barack Obama will make his way to Rittenhouse Hotel for a special DNC fundraiser.

The event will be hosted by “power lawyer” Steve Cozen, a long-time donor to the Democratic National Committee, according to the Inquirer’s Big Tent blog.

While only 15 people are expected to attend, Obama is expected to help rake in almost half a million dollars for the DNC, with tickets costing $33,000 a piece.

The 2016 Democratic National Convention will be hosted by Philadelphia, putting the city on the center stage for fundraising efforts by the party and candidates alike.

“It’s particularly important for us in Philadelphia to render as much support as we can to the DNC given the good fortune of their decision to hold the convention here,” Cozen told Thomas Fitzgerald of the Inquirer.
