GOP Businessman Launches Bid for PA4

The Republican race to face Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery) in the 4th Congressional District has begun.

Christian Nascimento, Vice President of Product at Comcast and former Methacton School Board president, announced that he is seeking the GOP nomination for the Philadelphia suburban House district.

“Our children deserve to share the great American dreams of their parents,” said Nascimento, a first generation American and Montgomery County native. “But we cannot afford to sit back and simply hope their dreams come true. Families and workers will only get a fair shake if we elect principled public servants who fight for the people they represent, not an extreme partisan agenda.”

“I’m running for Congress because, like you, I care deeply for my family, for my community, and for my country,” he continued in his announcement press release. “We have so much to be proud of and, with your help, I believe with all of my heart that our best days are still ahead of us.”

Nascimento also released a 2 minute-plus video detailing his upbringing, while laying out his concerns that “radicals in Washington are restructuring the U.S. economy” and “leftist policies” are negatively impacting schools and making the streets “far less safe.”

On his campaign website, Nascimento lists “better education, better opportunities, and better security” as his three priorities.

As the Vice President of Comcast, Nascimento writes that he’s worked “closely with small and medium sized businesses to improve their efficiency and help them grow,” according to his campaign.

He was also previously elected as a school board director in the Methacton district and was elected to two terms as School Board President.

Dean was first elected to Congress in 2018 after besting Republican Dan David by 27 points for the open seat.

She secured a second term in 2020 to represent the 4th Congressional District by defeating GOP challenger Kathy Barnette by 19 points. According to DailyKos,  Joe Biden bested Donald Trump by 24 points in the Democratic friendly district.

For several months, Dean was mentioned as a potential candidate for U.S. Senate, however, she announced in June that she will be seeking a third term in the House as opposed to launching a campaign for statewide office in 2022.

Nascimento, an Audubon native, is currently the lone Republican to file for the seat in 2022.

However, Pennsylvania is slated to lose a seat after redistricting, making it difficult for any challenger and incumbent to accurately size up their 2022 prospects.

  1. All this guy’s opponent has to do is publicize how Methacton’s ranking in the state declined EVERY SINGLE YEAR he was board president. Not to mention a couple of superintendent scandals from the people HE hired. A guy who works for the most-hated cable company in the country has zero chance in the general – so by all means, let him win the primary! You guys out west have no idea how deep the hatred is for Comcast here.

  2. The Democrats gerrymandered the congressional map through the Supreme Court so no Republican can win a district like the 4th. Where are Fair Districts to speak out against this gerrymander? I think the Supreme Court will have a big problem on their hands if they go along with Gov. Wolf and pull a stunt like that again.

    1. Darn right D. Gerrymanderers!! How can the supreme court make the districts more even?? In God we trust the Republicans to make fair and unbiased districts free of gerrymandering! I like the old way when the Republicans had a 13 to 5 edge, not this nearly even crap!! There is no need to have an outside party create the make-up of the districts. Let the fair and impartial Republican state congress party do it!!

    1. Dream on. The Republican is not going to get one of his famous pretzel districts through redistricting with a Dem Gov. Cooperation will be needed. Comcast and cable companies have fierce competition with internet television outlets like Apple TV. It’s part of the business landscape that is in the process of great change as sling tv and all these internet television opportunities are dramatically altering the business models. Not getting much media notice but it is huge shift in our country.

      1. Wait. Are you saying that the general public is not aware that streaming services have taken a large part of the “tv” market from traditional cable?

I may be misunderstanding you, but you’d have to be a moron not to understand that.

Also, I don’t think companies like Comcast give give crap about that issue. Otherwise, they wouldn’t promote the market shift with lower prices for streaming only and they would negotiate with cable package providers to give better selection and options.

Also- this dude is gonna lose, but thanks for running and good luck.

  3. He must be Cuban. Those are the only Hispanics that align with GOP. Comcast is not exactly warm and fuzzy. So he must feel at home there.

    1. You are the 2nd worst person on here – next to David “no one cares what he thinks” Diano. That’s not his birth name, but it is as he is known at State Committee.
