Reader Poll: Cartwright is The Most Vulnerable Congressman in the 2018 General Election

Seal_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives.svgThe results are in, and a plurality of our voters believe that Congressman Matt Cartwright (D-Lackawanna) is the most vulnerable Congressman in 2018.

22% of the 1,463 respondents said Cartwright was the most vulnerable.  22% also responded with Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Bucks), but he received seven fewer votes.  19% picked Congressman Ryan Costello (R-Chester), 12% said Congressman Lloyd Smucker (R-Lancaster), 10% said Congressman Pat Meehan (R-Delaware), 4% picked both Congressmen Keith Rothfus (R-Allegheny) and Brendan Boyle (D-Philadelphia), 3% said Congressman Charlie Dent (R-Lehigh), and 2% picked both Congressmen Tim Murphy (R-Allegheny) and Mike Kelly (R-Butler).

Of the top three vote getters, only Fitzpatrick remains unchallenged from the other side of the aisle.  Both Cartwright and Costello have at least one challenger each.

  1. No way my boy don’t win. He has lived here his hole life. He is the best thing for this district!

  2. It’s happening!

  3. Fitzpatrick will have a serious primary opponent and that is a good thing.

  4. FITZ from 8th CD got a pass on key votes from his pals in DC on Trumpcare and other issues that would not sit well with Bucks County residents. will be hard to beat even if Marsaglia jumps in. Vulnerable? don’t think so but it would be close

    1. he didn’t vote for The Donald, nor did he support the ACHA; yet, he supports funding transgenders in the military

it’s not even close, notwithstanding postulated “passes”

    2. No way she runs for the 8th CD. She is waiting for the 6th Senate district. Waiting for Tommy to die or retire.

Then it will be Farry vs Marsaglia with Amy Strouse going for the house seat.

The 8th is a sure loss time dust of an old lamb Kathy Bochachavar

      1. amy strouse running for the house seat — makes sense, i guess someone should use her husband’s balls

  5. what is the problem with Cartwright? None that I can see from across the border from his district

    1. Cartwright just kind of slides by without doing much, that is why you don’t hear many positives or negatives about the Congressman. In all honesty, this is one of the few Dem Congressional Districts that is gerrymandered out of control. The district is ridiculous. I believe he is one of the top 2 most vulnerable on this list for sure. In 2016, his opponent raised and spent a laughable $31,000, was nottt a solid candidate, and still only lost by around 7% in a wave election. If that Trump-inspired electorate raises up again in 2018, behind a candidate like the proposed gentleman from his district, Cartwright can easily lose his seat.

  6. How on Earth do people expect Lloyd to lose in his district. Any republican can hold onto that seat as long as they want.

  7. fitz has the seat as long as he wants it
