On Monday Kevin Boyle, the State Representative from Northeast Philadelphia, announced that the Philadelphia Fire Fighters & Paramedics Union Local 22 will be endorsing him as he campaigns for the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania’s 5th Senatorial District.

“I am honored and grateful for the support of Local 22 as I run to continue to represent Northeast Philadelphia in Harrisburg,” Boyle said. “In my six years in the state House I have always fought to make sure our firefighters have had all the resources they need to do their jobs protecting our families, homes and businesses. They risk their lives every day for us, and I take it as my mission to be a voice for them, as well as our police and other emergency workers who protect our communities. I think my endorsement by both our police and firefighters in this race underlines my record of fighting for them, and I look forward to continuing to be their advocate in the state Senate.”

“Representative Boyle has been a consistent voice for our membership in Harrisburg since being elected in 2010,” said Local 22 President Andrew Thomas. “He has made it a priority to focus on the needs of our local emergency workers to make sure we have what we need to do our jobs every day, and we are eager to see that same leadership under Representative Boyle in the state Senate.”

Boyle is running against incumbent State Sen. John Sabatina in the Democratic primary.

Kevin Boyle is currently serving his 3rd term in office as the Representative for the 172nd legislative district which covers Northeast Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
