Reuters/Ipsos Poll: Biden 50, Trump 45

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Donald Trump by 5 points in Pennsylvania, according to this latest Reuters-Ipsos poll

50% of likely voters said they will be voting for Biden, while 45% of likely voters said they will be voting to reelect Trump. While Biden has a 5 point advantage over Trump in the Keystone State, Biden holds a 6 point lead, 50-to-44, in Wisconsin according to polling from Reuters-Ipsos also released alongside the Pennsylvania polling.

According to the analysts at FiveThirtyEight, Ipsos favors Democrats by an average of 0.4% and has an overall B- grade.

Biden has added on to his lead in comparison to polling from Reuters-Ipsos conducted two weeks prior. In that poll, Biden led Trump by 3 points, 49-to-46, in Pennsylvania.

Following the trend of many polls this cycle, Pennsylvanians support Biden on handling the coronavirus pandemic, while Trump is the preferred candidate on managing the economy.

51% said Biden would be better at handling the coronavirus pandemic, while 41% said Trump would be better. 51% said Trump would be better at managing the economy, while 46% said Biden would be better handling the matter.

2% of Pennsylvanians said they have already voted.

Numerous polls have been released over the past few days show Biden leading in the state, although the margin varies by the pollster.

A New York Times/Siena College poll of likely voters released after the presidential debate shows Biden carrying a 7 point lead over Trump, 49-to-42. A CBS poll conducted by YouGov released one day after the NYT/Siena College poll also shows Biden leading Trump by 7 points, 51-to-44, among likely voters. Biden’s largest lead in a recent poll comes from Monmouth University that shows the former VP leading the president by 12 points, 54-to-42, among registered voters in the state.

Two GOP leaning polls released last week also have Biden in the driver’s seat in the state, although the race is tighter in this polling. A poll commissioned by Restoration PAC, a conservative super PAC, commissioned by Trafalgar Group, released last week showed Biden leading by just over 2 points, 48.1%-to-45.9%, with likely voters in the state. A Federalist/TIPP poll of likely voters released last week has Biden leading Trump by 5 points, 49-to-44.

The Real Clear Politics Average shows Biden besting Trump by 6.5 points in Pennsylvania. Real Clear Politics Average reports that this poll, surveying 605 likely voters, collected data between Sept, 29 to Oct. 5, has a margin of error of +/-5%.
